The goal is to have the Super Bowl the day before President's Day


This year SB Sunday is Feb. 13, and President's Day is Feb. 21. This is why you see the owner's pushing for an 18-game regular season - it would move the playoffs back one more week to accomplish this. They compromised with the players this year to get to 17. When it eventually does fall the day before President's Day, the league will fulfill its dream of having the Monday after the Super Bowl be a holiday, so everyone can watch and drink and not have to worry about work the next day. Plus it puts the game in the heart of sweeps season for the networks.
