It's coachable but not able to be completely eliminated


You can see it in VT film alone, the way they played (e.g. the types of tackles they made) in Foster's earlier defenses versus the ones in the years after the ejection was added. VT would've had a player getting ejected every other game if they didn't coach them with that rule in mind.

It's kind of like various personal fouls--late hits, unsportsmanlikes, etc.--even very disciplined, low penalized teams will pick one up occasionally. The undisciplined, poorly-coached teams get multiples per game.
