Couple of things:
1) TJ weigh-in at 200. So he is giving up a lot of weight - 15 pounds to Pitzer. Pitzer is a Pitt 2022 recruit. Will be HWT in college.
2) Pitzer ranked #7 at 220. He is an absolute hammer on top. Pinned his way all through the tourney into the Final. 3 pins under a min and one in a minute and change. No one chooses bottom against him…
3) Questionable call on choice for 3rd period - think it may have cost the tourney. TJ got the lone takedown and an escape by Pitzer made it 2-1 TJ end of first. Pitzer took bottom and got an escape in 2nd, 2-2.
Thought TJ would choose neutral for 3rd. And go for the win with a takedown - TJ better than Pitzer on his feet. He told the Flo guys (according to them) before the match no chance he was taking bottom. Looked at his coaches and they told him to take bottom. He survived the 3rd - wasn’t turned - but didn’t escape and got absolutely drained - nothing left in the tank. Pitzer took bottom in TB 1 and got a reversal on an exhausted TJ. 4-2 Pitzer. TJ took bottom again for TB2 (?) - got ridden out - Pitzer wins 4-2. Maybe his coaches we’re looking for the ultimate challenge for TJ?
4) Great effort and even better news that he weighed in at 200 - looks like it will be 197 at VT.
