problem, some site became compromised? A few years back that was what was happening, and people would use gas stations to check those cards - I think basically card skimmers at the time - eg you'd get $0.06 charge for gasoline but really they were just checking to see if the card was still good. $0.27 absolutely sounds like that's what happened. I'm thinking my $4.46 is a little more clever that I would glaze over that on my CC statement. with a mickey mouse name that sorta looks like something but isn't.

PS I ordered some food products, basically Asian sauces Dec 20th using that card and receiving a rare, weird message from Amazon (fulfilled by Amazon) that the order was "undeliverable" Related some how? scam site that Amazon isn't going to acknowledge? Pretty good coincidence there. Anyway, that worked out b/c had to run out and buy the product, discoved local Asian markets so no longer need the order. Yeah, TMI.
