You've got that precisely backwards.


False pisitives aren't trally a thing (people test positive who aren't sick). False negatives (test positive who may not show symptoms *yet*) are a much bigger concern, and that's what that article is about.

It's also possible for people to be asymptomatic and test positive, without ever showing symptoms. These are a bit trickier, but it's definitely possible to spread the virus even if you don't have the viral load to be visibly sick yourself.
