Yep, this is a prime example of why you need to prosecute and get a


judgement against folks like this. If they are found guilty the criminal record is then public and anyone who does a background check can at least be aware of the record,

Back in the 70’s one of our not-for-profit clients hired a bookkeeper who had changed her last name somewhat. After some financial and other shenanigans arose, it was discovered she had bankrupted a successful plumbing business and torched the premises to get rid of the records. Then she left town and later surfaced in another state, with another name modification. I believe they finally put her in jail, but after she got out she probably did the same thing again.
