......are doing just fine. I have a kid who is a rare two sport athlete with a 2.5 month overlap and is an honor student in Mechanical Engineering. He spends every bit the same amount of time training and far, far more competing than a football player. His teammates have majors like Nursing, Physician's Assistant, ME, EE, and Finance. My daughter is also a D1 athlete and has 9 practices and 3 weight sessions a week plus two day competitions most weekends. Her teammates are largely nursing and aeronautics students (future commercial and military pilots). Look at the non-revs at most schools: the GPAs are high and the kids graduate. My kids are very thankful for both academic and athletic aid. Every single one of their teammates will graduate and get productive jobs. None of them have illusions of pro leagues or NILs. They are getting a great opportunity to compete and represent their schools well and gain experiences that will help them in life. Thankfully at both of their institutions, their sports are NOT funded via football revenue. All college athetics is not like football. Not at all.
