If it was truly an oversight, then the administration should apologize and try to make it right. Move on and don't hold grudges. That's the grown up thing to do, and I think Mr Vick should recognize that - and from my distant observation - Vick himself did a lot to try to make amends with much bigger mistakes he's made in life. I didn't see the University throw Vick under the bus for something that went on for far worse, with deceipt, than simply forgetting to add an individual to a 160 person invite.
