And of course it is, you have to (I know some would debate this, but the reality is that a third party vote is tantamount to tossing your ballot out) pick A or Z for all issues. I don't think people fall very neatly at all into two groups across a single issue, let alone all issues. This leads to bad ideas from both sides becoming reality and good ideas going further than they should (e.g. a reasonable subsidy becomes huge, a drug gets classified as schedule 1 versus 4, a particular crime's punishment becomes too strict, etc.), simply because they fall into the same A or Z as good ideas. Essentially, that means those decisions about what is good or bad or the right magnitude are probably made poorly.

I don't really know what we do. I tend to think a different style of elections, like instant run-off, makes it more likely that A-Z have representation knocking off the 2 sizes fit all problem.
