That was my first thought as well, but he's only been there for two years


and was at Duke for 12 years prior to that. DB coach by trade.

Update: I'll add that he has mentored some guys who ended up being pretty good DBs at Duke; and we're not talking highly rated recruits. I don't know about his DC cred, but he sounds like a great guy to take over the secondary.
