That was a fun game

in the same way the UVA game was fun, after getting beat up in Brooklyn, wondering if we really had anything, playing in a raucous, semi-professional environment, really needing the win, and getting the win.

Sat next to a group of middle-age MD fans of a type: probably successful in business, play golf together, maybe a boat in Annapolis type stuff, the one on the end chatted me up in a friendly but paternalistic way. "Well this is the best I've seen (33) play, watch out if # 5 Hart gets going, if he does, it's game over" I nodded my head appreciatively not doubting that could happen.

Later, the guy's demeanor changed when Cattoor started raining threes, he was in disbelief as the they kept coming, He started cursing "again?!? I acted like it was no big deal, didn't react, nothing unusual attitude. as the shots sailed through their celestial arcs, I even have a little time to anticipate the guy's reaction knowing they were going in and trying to hide my glee.

I'll give UMD credit, with the exception of behind the VT bench, they ringed the lower level with students and it got loud, especially when they took the lead and with the band backing the pandemonium. I can see how that might shake an opponent's will. To their credit, the Hokies stayed calm, circled up and went out again. Good stuff.

Len Bias night, and as mentioned elsewhere the students had on "Len Bias" jerseys. Pretty sweet actually, nice swag, wouldn't have minded getting one if someone had left it. It's odd thinking that none of these students were alive when he passed away, I remember that well. Picked #2 in the NBA draft by the Celtics - bet he would have extended those Larry Bird championships by one more year - two days later snorted cocaine and subsequently pulled the plug on his heart. Yeah, go ahead and celebrate the stupid dumbfuck. I'm still pissed.

Pleasant 50+ degree evening as I walked back to my car, people giving me plenty of room on the sidewalk as I chuckled to myself, happy as only one can when you beat Maryland in their house (Protect this house! (more chuckles)) happy for the long walk to my car wishing I had somewhere to go other than home. go get a beer somewhere, talk sports ad infinitum, stay up too late, sleep in.
