The vast majority of coaches collect buyout money


Everyone in the business knows this. Yes, ADs get measured by how well the coaches do whom they hire. And they get measured by how well they manage their budgets. But when coaches are signed, the assumption is their actual annual salary is much higher than listed due to buyout clauses.
