Any chance that the Wilson basketball used in Brooklyn caused our woes??


While suffering through the game last night, I noticed that the ball used in Brooklyn looked significantly different than the balls we use at home.

The ball used in Brooklyn was a bright orange Wilson basketball. Based on pictures from home games, we use a Nike ball in Cassell. What is possibility that the differences in the balls attributed to our issues with poor dribbling and uncharacteristic misses on free throws and easy shots?

Based on an admittedly small amount of Google research, teams use myriad different balls and the home team's ability to dictate the ball used in games has long been thought to be a home team advantage. Anecdotally, we always seem to shoot better at home than on the road. In tournaments, the organizers dictate which ball is used.

Is there a chance that the difference in balls can account for that big of a difference in execution, or am I grasping at straws and a conspiracy theory???
