Any games against quality opponents are important. You're assuming VT is now going to run roughshod through the ACC? Every year, the committee uses metrics like OOC wins, bad losses, etc. I don't think these were necessarily bad losses by their definitions, but if you don't snag a quality win or two, then yes, bubble life it will be.
