After the run of success they've had, they're not going to be happy unless Alabama is #1, the best at everything, every year. If they had a coach who they felt like might drag them down from any spot except #1, it's going to leave them unhappy, even if they only fell as far as being the 10th best team in the country sometimes (the horror). But if you told VT fans that some coach they hired would bring them to a level where they were never worse than #10 in the country, they'd probably be overjoyed.
