The staff Fu got was buddiesbut also in the market VT could afford. I'd say looks look where Lect (late in the tenure) Vice and Shibest end up and at what salaries. Buddies will work for less. Its obvious Fu can coach, the focus from defense to offense when he switched this year was glaring from game to game.

It was also discussed about the negative impact of retaining Foster and co actually had in terms of recruiting the last few years. Not just us, CC as well talked about in on the podcast.

I DO think replacing Corn at the end of the season, along with Williams would have been a must for him to stay. Effectively Corn becomes the scapegoat, but much more deserving, imo. I think making a run at Holman Wiggins and a top notch QB coach and additional analysts and we are back on track to better offenses that Fu & Co. drove early in the tenure. It would have also left in tact our best line coaches and improved recruiting and development.

Again, as you and I have bantered about beforethere are criticisms of Fuhe wasn't perfect for sure.

I truly feel like Fu, for all the faults, missteps, and mistakes; actually cares(d). As Whit said, "we all failed". I don't think the program expanded and supported football as it should have for the fan expected results. Fu became the scapegoat. It is what it is.

Unless the program actually puts money and support where its mouth is, a new coach doesn't change that. Again, I'm awaiting new coach and staff - comparing salaries, and back office hires, analysts, etc. If the budget expands, additonal bodies, and quality of bodies improvesthen what are we actually comparing? New coach gets more for more when Fu couldn't do more with less? That seems to be the nature of college football.
