Thoughts
Latona didn’t have much pop tonight. I’m hoping he settles into this weight cut and finds his form.
Myers looked like himself. Koontz is a long stingy defender and wrestled well tonight.
Gerardi was aggressive and looks good at the weight. OSU looked fresher late in the match. D’Emilio jogging back to center in some pivotal moments stuck out.
Bryce put on a show as he always does. Never felt like he was out of it but that big move just didn’t quite materialize. Was hoping he’d take the leap tonight but alas, no shame in that match, though he looked frustrated at the end. I continue to wince in pain when remembering the year of eligibility he lost to COVID
Brady I like watching wrestle. Hes smooth out there and a good technician but every match the output is just too low and he finds himself in a nail biter that can go either way. Good job by him getting it done tonight.
Ulrey showed something. Grit? Stayed solid and kept Kharchla at bay most of the match despite looking a little outgunned. I believe Kharchla is Brady’s high School training partner so maybe he had a couple tips.
Mekhi was gassed up tonight. It will be a special year for him if he keeps having fun out there. The beef reminded me of his Junior world finals. It’s good to see that version of Mekhi
Bolen is a brick house. So solid. Wish he had at least attempted a shot in the final 10 secs for the major.
197 was beyond painful. Fans were oozing frustration as the blood time significantly impacted this match. Like Bolen, Howard didnt attempt a shot in the final 10 seconds, this one for a win.
Traxler almost had himself a moment there. He just ran out of gas but still attempted 2 escapes in the final 10 seconds! Way to push through.
Overall a great night. Tom Ryan had some kind words for Ty and the Hokies after the match, it’s a great rivalry developing. Robie has this team right in the thick of things nationally and there’s still a lot of time to get better.
