Must be nice living in the rear view mirror
Take your mindset back to the 80s where you got it from. Fuente was a home run hire at the time and the extension wasn’t bad. The only thing that was bad was the buyout, if contract negotiations are the biggest issue with the AD we shouldn’t have much to complain about.
You’re the kind of guy that doesn’t see the forest for the trees. In business you’d be the one who prioritizes a good quarter over the next 5 years. Whit played this incredibly well, he’s made VT a very attractive job for the kind of coach that can succeed in the long term at Tech which isn’t the flashy guy looking for the next move.
He’s seriously improved financial support, he’s demonstrated his patience for coaches which is highly desired. He didn’t fire the guy during the COVID season which would’ve been a horrible look. He made a seamless transition from Beamer and kept the crown jewel in foster and co. The program was held together by duct tape and Frank Beamer by 2015, we had no money and no support staff. We were 15 years behind on facilities.
