No, the startegy was bad, not necessarily the hire.....

The strategy to retain Bud and try to find the most Beamer-esque coach to fill the void and carry on that legacy was a poor strategy. When Beamer left, everything should have gone with him. including Bud. The new coach should have been given full reign to create VT football in whatever image he wanted. Fu was never given that leeway. I doubt it would have worked either way, but I still say the strategy was the failure.....not necessarily the hire.....
