.just as a follow-up to my posts when the vt club baseball team won the
national club baseball association's world series in june at pittsburg state university in kansas, we (vt rec sports/sport club office) put together a recognition ceremony this past saturday, before the team's doubleheader vs. coastal carolina. evan hughes (voice of vt baseball and women's basketball) graciously offered to m.c. the ceremony and did a phenomenal job. the script we put together talked about the challenges all 29 of our sport clubs had to endure during the covid year of 2020-21 that almost completely shut down the sport club program. but once we got the go-ahead for teams to begin practicing, and then competing again, the club baseball team made the most of their opportunity, and won regionals and then ultimately, the national championship. we had a banner made in their honor, that will hang near their dugout at their home field at the old blacksburg high school. the guys who graduated last year made it back for the weekend, to be a part of the ceremony, as we introduced each member of last year's team. a lot of the team's parents and friends were in attendance. it was a great ceremony and we were happy to be able to recognize the team for winning their first national championship. the guys went on to sweep coastal in the 3-game weekend series. and it seems like every team in the country wants to play us in the spring. everyone wants to play the defending national champions.......
