Louisville redzone debacle looked like VTs against WVU. I initially thought maybe people are right about their D when we were slamming our redzone O failure.
Fast forward to our redzone failing against multiple Ds and WVU being 4-5 and I'd say we were right that it was more about bad redzone offense than WVU having an NFL defense. It was a great stand by WVU D no doubt but it was not the Mount Everest level of difficulty against which to move the ball 3 yards on 4 tries. Pathetic redzone O. I hope you understand but if not I can't explain it any better.
Regarding WVU posts in the summer, it has zero to do with this topic but I will address that as well. I hate WVU but certainly don't remember writing that we'd "punk" WVU. I thought we would win but don't recall talking junk....other than about WVU in general....mostly fan behavior which is well earned and documented. I have friends who are WVU alumni and even they admitted (back in late 90s) they had a larger % of really bad fans than most fanbases. I recall some football publications ranking worse fan bases. VT never cracked top25. WVU was ranked #1 worst. I despise WVU as much as I do UVa. That is based on fan behavior in Morgantown in 93 and 95 (it was REALLY bad) and even 04 in blacksburg....and watching them make news and achieve notoriety with well documented thuggish behavior. Good grief we couldn't get out of that series fast enough. Things can change and maybe now a new generation has taken over but I'd have to see it to believe it. That being said I am worried that maybe VT or fanbases in general may be trending downward. I see youtube vids and am disgusted by VT student behavior at Center Street and compared it to The Pit in Morganhole. I don't recall that level of drunken obnoxiousness when I was at VT. I also believe the UNC dad was provoked (foolishly) by obnoxious VT students and was ashamed. That all being said, I'll always be happy when WVU losses, will not be leading tours at WVU and will never compare their fans to aTm fans.....and I'm comfortable with it. On the bright side, a reasonable sober WVU fan is always welcome at my table to sit and chat football and maybe talk a little good natured trash. In general I loathe drunken belligerent fans of ALL teams.
Now, back to my point.....our redzone offense sucks and we need a new coaching staff
