In May, she was ranked as the #42 overall recruit by Extra Innings Softball
in their Extra Elite Top100 for the Class of 2023.
Their summary of her stated: "Lyla joined the Bandits after being with the Mojo – Fisher championship team previously and instantly showed that she is a difference maker in the outfield and at the plate because of her great speed. She is a super strong lefty slapper with true DI speed already and wreaks havoc on the base paths. Coach Cray Allen says, “You give this kid an inch and she will make you pay for it with her in-game IQ and understanding of her value based on the situation.” Lyla has great range in the outfield and makes aggressive baserunners pause with her 66-plus mph overhand throw."
She played travel ball with the Beverly Bandits DeMarini-Allen, which was ranked as the #9 team in the country in April. The story described her as "a lockdown corner outfielder that can shrink the OF on any hitter with her speed. She wreaks havoc at the plate and on the bases."
Later that month, Extra Innings ranked her as the #28 outfielder in the Class of 2023.
I'm totally speculating, but perhaps she's Kelsey's Brown successor????
Regardless, sounds like a really good get!
Coach Pete and his coaches keep on "poppin' it!"
