The transfer portal can change things in a moment either for or against you. Tech has loss good talent in the transfer portal and no negative swipe against Bummeister as Tech does not have anyone with the guts and grits he has and he leaves it all on the field, but losing Hooker and Patterson, good offensive linemen, and in the past good receivers will eventually come back and haunt you. As a whole, our offense scored more points per game when Hooker was under the center the past few season than any other QB we had. Hooker is getting the job done in Tennessee and has been their best option at the QB position. When Hooker was here, he kept the offense competitive and most of the problem was the defense. Apart from today's defensive hiccup, the defense had done their part this season. As a whole, we haven't been able to replace what was loss from the folks who exited the program.

But a new coach can sell new hope and vision. He can bring in good transfers from big programs as he look to get the talent he needs to plant his system. Look at how fast Cincinnati has change things. They do benefit from bringing in stud transfer and keeping local talent / Ohio in tact even when competing against OSU. So, maybe the right coach won't take as long if he can bring some talent and keep the existing good talented ball players in the fold. If it is the right name and personality, it could also benefit recruitment although it looks as if 2022 recruiting class could be a gem . I just hope this craziness from this season won't have these 2022 folks jumping ship.
