It isn't about the HS competition
First, all of these pitchers that we're talking about are VERY GOOD.
Let's not even attempt to judge how prepared any of these girls are based on their HS competition. I love to see a state champion or player of the year as much as the next softball fan, and those games do mean SOMETHING, they just don't mean MUCH. There isn't a HS in the state (or really in any state outside of California) that creates pressure for a pitcher from top to bottom of the lineup. When you do find a HS that has a few good bats, any high-caliber pitcher can easily try to get them to chase at fringe pitches and if they walk them... so what... there isn't quality hitting to turn that into damage.
Lemley (Williamsburg Starz), Fleet (TN Mojo), and 99% of all top pitchers have become college ready and battle tested by playing a top-quality club/travel schedule where weak spots in the lineup are few and far between.
Now back to what's important... As Chip said, there isn't room for them all, and contrary to another post, you CAN have too much good pitching. Not only is it a challenge to keep too many pitchers happy when sharing innings (yes, some top programs seem to have managed that), but with every player you take (pitcher or not), you have to take a pass on someone else. The NCAA limits scholarships and number of players who can travel. Building a college roster that fills all the gaps and prepares us to compete for a natty at OKC means that you occasionally have to pass on other really good players who fill roles that you already have covered. Fleet could have been a great add, and I wish her the very best at JMU, but we already have great pitching now, and solid prospects in the channel. It simply isn't as easy as looking at one player/position in isolation.
As easy as it is to make blanket statements about a coach that someone may or may not like, the evidence shows that Pete is doing a great job in recruiting an OVERALL better team year after year. On top of that, Doug is DEVELOPING pitchers. Keely is a MUCH better pitcher than when she started at Tech. The same is true of Ivy and Ozzy, even without the heavy game reps that people like to argue for.
