don't send rascist and homophobic emails period. Work, personal, whatever, when you put something in writing somebody will eventually find it and how they use it will be largely out of your control. When my kids were old enough to get involved via media and technology, I gave them two simple questions to ask themselves, (1) Would I say this in public or directly to someone's face? and (2) Would I be comfortable explaining what I said to my grandmother? If the answer to either question drew a no or a bit of hesitancy it was probably wise to not hit send.
