I’m not sure I ever read the aero press grind recommendations but I’ve used

Regular pre-grounded coffee (not expresso grind) & ground it myself using a slicer or blade type grinder which I’ve tried to not make the grind as fine as the pre grounded coffee because I seem to like that a little better. Although, I’m not sure if the reason is because that grind is fresher or if it’s because it’s not as fine. I actually just bought my first hand held burr grinder so I’ll have to start experimenting soon. I haven’t used it, yet.
