Wrapping my head around this
So new HC with a new staff (assumingly higher salaries) deserves more resources than Fu because?? Fu couldn't do more with less resources?
Lecht seems like a hard working recruiter than filled a line coach position, probably a budget fill. The judgement on good/bad line coach doesn't seem as determined yet.
Jafar seems like best available given salary available for the position. Given he replaced Wiggins (who Fu brought from Memphis) and is a star. Would Wiggins not be a vote of confidence in the Fu can hire the right coaches?
In game coaching decision-making- I'll agree resources may not play a big factor - maybe in the analyst room. The glaring one everyone points to seems to be Liberty. That's putely based upon the refs not stopping the play as they should have. That situation, of a kicker that was like long of 40 lining up for a 60or whatever it was. Had fake or desperate attempt written all over it. The TO I'm sure was for prep to make sure the unit knew to watch for that stuff. I'm sure their are others.
Frankly, I like Fu as a coach. What many see as smug, I see as humble and hard working. What many see as excuse making in front of camera and mics. I see as respectful to his players and staff. I also feel the conversations that those folks expect him to have publicly, happen privately.as they should.
I guess the long and short to me seems like the buyouts or whatever money to get him out and a bigger more expensive staff in - would seem better spend in a matched budget for a bigger name WR coach, QB coach, OC, analysts, etc. If Fu is attached to Corny as many suspect - then that seems to force his hand. If he doesn't take that...then move along if that's the mutual agreement.
The constant thought of the grass being greener on the other side is true for so many things. Its no less true in VT football. Generally, the other side is fertilized with $#!+. [Post edited by JoWood07 at 09/25/2021 7:21PM]
