IMO, Liberty is a much better fit from a few standpoints:

Geography - Liberty is a short road trip for much of the SEC. WV is not a short trip for anyone, The closest is UK at 330 miles. I can tell you for a fact that the KY fanbase wants nothing to do with a regular game vs WVU.

Weather - For a mid-november game, are your Auburn/Gainseville folks more likely to travel to Lynchburg, VA or Morgantown, WV, all else being equal?

Culture - Even without dredging up ancient history, WVU has little in common with much of the schools in the SEC. Liberty is a much better fit for the Alabama's, Vandy's and Texas A&M's, IMO. The SEC already has a cultural misfit in Tennessee with which to contend. Lol. They do not need another. Besides, regular conference outings between those two would certainly produce a rivalry that the SEC would likely not want to contend.
