Is Corny qualified to coordinate a P5 offense?


Honestly just asking the question, we hired Fuente because of his offensive guru reputation based on him calling plays for TCU with Andy Dalton during their run 10 years ago and bringing Memphis up from the ashes.

Fuente started at Memphis and hired an experienced D1 OC in Darrell Dickey, he also brought his buddy Corn in from Northeastern St to coach QBs. Prior to his 2 year stint as OC at NEST he had only coached positions under Fuente at Illinois St. Fuente was at Memphis for 4 years, only in the last one (2015) did Corny get to experience being co-OC with Dickey. Memphis finished #12 in scoring offense that year resulting in Paxton Lynch's 1st round status.

VT hired Fu & co in 2016, the following year Darrell Dickey continued his stint as OC in Memphis and led them to a the #2 scoring offense sans-Lynch. He was then hired by TAMU and took their scoring offense from #70 two years prior to the top 25. At the same time Corny peaked at #28 in 2016 and by 2018 VT was #70.

At the end of the day Brad Cornelson has 5 years of experience leading an offense & coaching QBs by himself at the D1 level, all of them occuring at VT. In short, Corny has basically the same experience as Bryan Stinespring, only it's at the FCS level.
