They were charter members of the now defunct West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC ) from 1924 until 2006. It was an interesting little league which included pretty much every college in WV that participated in athletics at one time or another. Jumped from NAIA to Division II back in 1994 -- which was a bit too ambitious for some of its members (including West Virginia Tech).

Kinda sad, really. WV Tech had some pretty good teams in various sports at various times. But the rebranding and move to Beckley probably does position them well to at least get back to where they've been before.
