I suspect things are going to get worse. This is of course anecdotal but I

looked up COVID testing at CVS, Walgreens, and Walmart for the areas around Roanoke/Blacksburg and there were basically no appointments anywhere for today and few for tomorrow. Obviously more people getting tested doesn't automatically mean more people infected but I had to get one a couple months ago and there were lots of time slots for the current and next day pretty much everywhere. The fact that more people are seeking out tests is definitely not a great sign.
