Last year I received a stranger's new CC and tried to return it

Called the crediting bank at the 800# on the new card and they acted like they had never heard of this happening, and didn't know what to do. They finally said that, if I wanted, I could take it to one of their branches on my own. I suggested they tell their client what happened. And declined to run the bank's errand for them. They really couldn't be bothered. We cut it up and threw it away in different trash bags. P.S. It was a stranger’s name, sent to our address.
