Well, I believe some of the acrimony is due to some soreheads in the

university administration that believe athletics gets way too much attention, publicity, etc. by the general public, alumni, etc.

By the way, at the Blacksburg Sports Club event last night (Babcock was one of speakers) @VTChip raised the issue about charging admission for softball (and indirectly about the other Olympic sports). The answer was that the fees received would be offset by the cost by personnel charged with collecting the fees.....same old, same old.....bs..... How do you know until you have tried it?

Chip also brought up the subject regarding an extension of Pete’s contract to which Whit replied that they are working on that.....which, from what he and I know is correct.

I brought up the issue relative to the parking gestapo and Olympic sports (charging for parking when attending such) which was somewhat sidestepped by mention of the fact they had to work out a deal for 40 spaces in Lot 4 for the new University Club dining deal. Maybe there was a misunderstanding of the question, but my question was not answered as Chip and maybe a few others there might attest.
