Does that allude to a pact to absorb most of the Big12 amongst the alliance. This would create a 4x16 power structure that many have predicted but with the added twist that 3/4 aren't happy about how it happened.

You do get a cap on power teams. You could probably force an 8 team playoff with 4 guaranteed conference champs, the next highest conference champ and 3 at large with a two-team limit like they had under the original BCS.

If you want to thwart the SEC, make their expansion with Oklahoma backfire on them...more elite teams forced to share a maximum number of playoff spots.
