I first downloaded the tickets into my Iphone's wallet. Then I went to the hokie mobile app and beside the exact ticket I was sending clicked on the transfer icon. The app then asked for the phone number for the person I was transferring the ticket to which was my son. I added the number and then hit the transfer tab found on the bottom of the screen just below his phone number.

I then received an email from VT saying I had attempted to make this transfer and if for some reason this wasn't what I intended to do I should return to the VT mobile site and cancel that request. Looks like a safety step tome.

Further it stated my son would have 48 hours to accept the transfer and almost immediately he texted back that he had received the ticket and acknowledged so on his end.

So it seems pretty seamless. I did see something about a fee to transfer but no idea if that applies here and if so how much. It noted the fee would be charged against the card attached to my account.
