Her father and brother and many other relatives and close friends graduated from Tech. She feels that Tech women's lacrosse is a "Sleeping Giant" and is ready to see what she and her staff can do to get Tech to the next level. She announced that Sarah Lubnow will return for her 5th year and that GK Morgan Berman will return for her 5th year. Former player Mary Claire "M.C." Byrne (2014-2019) was recently hired as an assistant coach after spending 2 seasons at ECU. Skeira said that her goal was to get to the ACC as a head coach. She said with her family connections to Tech, the small town atmosphere, her trust in Whit Babcock and playing in the nation's best college lacrosse conference were the main reasons she took the job. She is impressed with the facilites and closeness of the athletic department. She also liked Tech's military history (VTCC) and said it was somewhat similar to her time as an assistant at Annapolis and as head coach at West Point, but that she was fiinally a civilian coach. Skiera also said that she has been recruting during the summer and is excited to get things going. Skiera was good enough to play college basketball but focused on lacrosse.
