Forget population and numbers of TV sets in states like Ohio where all they care about is the Buckeyes. That’s what messed up the ACC last time thinking we’d make the SEC and Big Ten jealous because we had BOSNYWASH covered. And the joke was on Swofford when the Big Ten kicked our butts taking the “WASH” out of BOSNYWASH.

If the ACC were to get even weirder than we already are and expand greater than 14 with Big 12 leftovers, I’d say the ACC just invite WVU, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Iowa State, Kansas and KSU to get to 20 and then say bye bye to ND when it’s legally time to do so. That would give the ACC 4 five-ream divisions: (div 1 TT, Ok St, KU, KSU and ISU); (div 2 BC, SU, Pitt, UL and Miami); (div 3 UNC, UVa, Duke, Wake and GT); (div 4 VT, Clemson, NCSU, FSU and WVU).

That’s unless ND has a change of heart and wants full membership, then we invite ND, Baylor, TCU and some eastern G5 school like UCF to get to 24 teams with 4 six-team divisions. Having 7 teams in the Great Plains and Texas plus ND would make six-team divisions awkward, but they’d mostly be football schools or large State universities.
