What specific car?

Some manufacturers allow you to program key fobs yourself, and the procedures are found on YouTube. If not, then $190 is probably about as good as it gets for a dealer replacement.

As for my older Honda (Acura), I was able to purchase the OEM (factory) key fob online, and program it myself. This is the "factory" key fob, not an aftermarket one.

I think I can do the same with my Tacoma's key fob, although I've been lucky enough that I still have the two original ones.
