I know it's not what you are looking for, but I find the national anthem

to be MUCH better as in instrumental (the guitarist at the '98 Music City Bowl notwithstanding) than when it is sung.

When played by a marching band or orchestra, it still gives me goosebumps. But when sung, it is a very ho-hum song.
