Please indulge me here a bit. Maybe what’s

driving this conference membership deal is not powerful teams but powerful markets.
Texas is a BIG state with sufficient market shares to support both the Aggies and the Longhorns and probably several other schools. Oklahoma doesn’t have an SEC footprint and neither does Virginia or North
Carolina. Clemson could have trouble getting in the SEC as South Carolina is the SEC footprint in that state. Remember, that was the
argument used against us joining the ACC as
UVA was their footprint in Va. and there wasn’t enough market left to support the Hokies.
That’s why I think our location is our trump card should the SEC decide to expand further.
