The Cup Run Challenge in Snowshoe is dominated by Keith Poor. It is a GS,

but KP wins by a boat load every year. He thought he had comp this year because of an up and comer who has been training in Italy. KP smoked everyone by 10 seconds on a less than two minute coarse. The point is, KP went to a special ski academy in New England and he still didn't make the US Ski Team and crushed above average racers.

As a side note, Olympic courses are generally easier than the World cup courses, which is why there are a bit more surprises on that front. Some racer can just go for it and get the run of their life, which is pretty cool.
