Fwiw, that's not exactly data about the efficacy of masks


it's about changes relative to mask *mandates*

I am certainly no expert on when various states implemented mandates, but masks could indeed be effective *and* that data be true. How?

1. If lots of people were using masks before the mandate, so the mandate didn't actually change much with respect to masking behavior.
2. If people started going out in public more after the mandate (possibly in part due to the mandate; possibly just from being tired of being cooped up)...so post-mandate there was more opportunity for cases.

Both of those scenarios seem quite plausible.

That study is in no way a study of "no mask" vs. "mask."
