EVERYBODY knew about how Florida wouldn’t allow another state school in the SEC. that was a real thing, at least back then.
The B1G or Pac10 weren’t gonna take them. The Big 8 wasn’t that desperate back then either. None of those were gonna reach across the country for one isolated program.

Any halfway skilled negotiator coulda gotten Miami into the ACC back then. It WAS the perfect fit. VT too, but Swofford’s an idiot, probably a crook too.
