To give a totally cynical perspective

While I thought it was amazingly stupid for Maryland to leave the ACC and their peer schools. The University was bleeding in red over the athletic dept. The renovation of byrd field was a terribly costly and not well thought out proposal that put Maryland into extreme debt. Then the firing of Friegen (if they left well enough alone Tony Franklin would have been their next coach in waiting and was all sign up...)

But with Big 10 guarantees, and (supplemental financing), they are out of the hole. Get penn state michigan and ohio state to visit (with sell outs).... and thats it. (they are doing great in the big t0 in basketball (mens and women's) and lacrosse. Well they did the same in the ACC.

Shame lack of foresight. IT would have been an amazing grouping of VT UVA Maryland and possibly WVU and Pitt in the mid Atlantic triangle.
