Here is my early teen son story

A few years ago he was making mac and cheese for the first time, after seeing his mom and I make it many times. He wanted to do it on his own, as I kept an eye on him from the living room.

He did great until he finished boiling the macaroni. At that point he put the colander on … the kitchen counter, and started to bring over the full pot of hot water and noodles to pour into it. As he held it over the colander I said, “Stop! Look carefully at what you are about to do.”

It was like a sitcom. He stopped, looked at me, looked at the pot and then the colander, and then back at me, then the pot. Then he got the biggest xxxx-eating grin on his face, and said, “Ohhhhhhhhh!”

That kid is now majoring in aerospace engineering.
