The top 4 conference champions get byes.

And yeah. I think the 12 number is still dumb. And yeah. The university powers look like hypocrites for claiming all these years that more games were bad for the student athletes (studying, injuries, etc.) then just blowing by 8 games, right to 12.

I'd prefer 8 or 16. Or to be honest, I'd prefer the pre-BCS system where the bowls had meaning and teams played a legit out of conference schedule. But I digress.
