Angry rant ... and 401k services company advice requested ... (long)

Background: I started my own company in 2010 and opened a solo 401k with Fidelity. I rolled over all my previous 401k funds into it so Fidelity has 31 years of my savings. I have a managed account that Fidelity invests for a 1% annual fee. I manage the other half and deposits have been split 50/50 down to the penny. The half I manage is worth about $60k more at this point which effectively is the 1% that I pay for them to manage half my investments. I do this more for peace of mind - they are experts and I am not and I have been willing to pay that price for peace of mind. However, I am not pleased with the returns they are providing. Strike 1.

Fidelity does not allow me to invest electronically. I literally have to drive 30 minutes to their office and deposit a check (split evenly between the two accounts). Also, I am now on my 6th 'advisor' on the managed account in 11 years and third in the last 2 years. Not a big trust or familiarity factor at this point. Strike 2.

Rant: Today I took advantage of the beautiful NoVaSux weather and hopped in the car, rolled back the sunroof and drove 30 minutes to the Reston Fidelity office to make a deposit. Parked in the garage and strolled a few minutes to find that the door was locked. There were some lights on inside so I figured someone had to step out or it was COVID-related. Right now you still can't even approach the desk - you have to slip your check into a lockbox with your account numbers on the check. A little ridiculous at this point, but it's their business and their office. I knocked loudly on the glass doors, checked for a note or a sign and found nothing. I waited and people watched the lunch diners sitting outside the Crafthouse brewery across the street. I knocked again and waited another 15 minutes. Finally I decided to call the Fidelity main office - they put me on hold for 5 minutes and then told me that the office was closed for the day due to a 'gas leak' in the area. At this point I lost my sh!t. Literally every other business in sight was open including several restaurants with packed tables of outdoor seating. I thanked the poor guy on the other end of the phone for his time and told him I was taking my balance elsewhere ... this is not a humble brag - it is 31 years worth of savings and growth but this is NOT an insignificant amount of money. I expected that I would hear from my Fidelity 'advisor' within minutes trying to address my concerns. Nothing. Strike 3.

Advice: I have been considering a move for a few years due to strike 1 and 2 so I have done some research. Right now I am leaning towards Schwab or Fisher Investments. Does anyone have any experience/recommendations for or against either? Any other suggestions? I don't want to go with Vanguard for a lot of other reasons so that one is off the list already.

Thanks for reading ... too early for a beer?
