I was one of the few (if not only) guy on the baseball team with a tough course load. One guy joked another guy on the team was majoring in "eligibility."

Per your point, our course selections were put at the top of the pile. We got first dibs on classes.

On the other hand, the college of accounting was not flexible. Anything late was not accepted, even resulting from a university sponsored event. On long road trips, it was nearly impossible to do the work multiple classes in advance, because the nightly homework usually reinforced what they taught you in class that day. And I never thought accounting was intuitive -- which might just be a personal issue.
