Hitting observation

In watching the WCWS I've seen something in the hitting of other teams that makes me scratch my head a little. It is very rare that you see one of these teams swing outside the frame of their body. While they may swing at a bad pitch occasionally, they don't lunge or bend at the waist or reach. They stay within their frame and if they swing at a pitch that is way out, so be it. They move on tho the next pitch. The slappers are included in this also. They all stay in position to swing with power and contact.

It seems I saw a lot of reaching and lunging on bad pitches from some of our hitters this year. What led to that can be blamed on a lot of factors and what the true reason is I have no idea. It is not something I saw early in the year only later. Just my opinion but i think it could have been either a matter of pressing to get a hit knowing that the team needed it or committing to the swing early and then the ball moving further they suspected.

Just wondering if the knowledgeable folks on the board (I am not one) could offer their interpretations because, well, it's the offseason and I am at my desk and I would rather discuss this than do the unfun things I have to do today...
