Love that story...

Homer (called "Sonny" while at VT, or "Hickam, Sir" by me my Rat year) was a year ahead of me in the VTCC "A" Squadron. Some of my old uniform brass actually went into the original cannon. Not only did he and his buddies do a great service to VT, but he is a celebated author (The movie "October Skies" was based on his biographical "Rocket Boys"), and he had a very interesting career with NASA as well. I especially recommend "The Keeper's Son" and "The Ambassador's Son" for those that like WWII novels, and the entire
biographical series begun with "Rocket Boys" about his life growing up in a WVA coal mining town. Good reads....

Go Hokies!!
